If you’ve been mowing the weeds of troubling, unwanted, or ungodly sexual thoughts or behaviors and they keep growing back, it’s time to deal with the roots. “Trying harder” to control lust with behavior modification and accountability may be helpful as far as it goes. But for many people, it’s just not working. You may need to deal much more deeply with the roots of sexual “stuff.”
God created you and me for intimacy with Himself. Intimacy with God is possible! But that feeling of being close to God may often seem to last about as long as a summer thunderstorm – refreshing and powerful, but short-lived. Then what do you do when you feel distant from God?
One of the Scriptures many Christians know well is 2 Timothy 1:7. In the KJV it reads: “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” What is a “sound mind”? How can you know if your mind is “sound”? What can you do to get it?
How is intimacy going for you? It is good, healthy, nourishing? Or have your attempts at intimacy resulted in only frustration, darkness, and pain? Do you understand what it takes to experience intimacy? Do you know why God invented sex?
